Week 1: You Asked For It
So, I recently asked on Facebook and Instagram what are a couple topics that I should write about. I want you to enjoy reading and I want to encourage you. I am still taking requests., so please, let me know what you want me to talk about. I have decided to do a series of blogs with the topics you want me to write about. I will try to write about most of them. Some I might have to wait for later, so I can get more educated on that particular topic. Recently, I got a request from a young lady to write about remaining faithful and trusting God. It was ironic, because I had just shared a bible devotional with our Youth For Christ about putting your trust in God and praising God through the good times and the bad. I had talked about a man named Job. The story of Job starts in Job 1:1 if you would like to read for yourself. I'll give you a quick run down. Job was a wealthy man, many livestock, along with servants, and a happy family of 10 kids and a wife. He was a faithful and righteous servant of the Lord. His faith couldn't be wavered, which is proved later on in the story. One day God was talking to the devil about how Job was a wonderful servant of God. Satan replied to God telling Him that Job was only faithful because God blessed him abundantly. God let the devil test Job's faith. Satan took all of Job's many livestock, many servants, and all 10 children. He had been through the wringer and had endured so much pain, yet Job remained faithful. I would fall apart. The fact that Job remained so strong is absolutely incredible and astounding, really. Job saw that God had a greater plan. Satan then attacked Job's health. Satan covered Job in soars, head to toe. Job's wife told him to curse the Lord for inflicting all this pain and suffering upon him. How would you react to tragedy that occurred like this? Would you yell, scream, throw a temper tantrum, or curse God? If you answered yes to any of these, you'll be surprised at Jobs reaction. Job fell to the floor, on his knees and praised God. In Job 1:20-21 is says, 20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshipped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” The most surprising thing is, Job didn't sin in this predicament. Not once. That is so amazing! The moral of this story is to put your faith and trust into God. God's plan is greater than what you could imagine. I go through trials and tough times all the time. Just because we are Christians doesn't mean we will always win the battle in bad situations. I have to constantly remind myself, God's plan for me is greater than my plan for me. God is where we draw our strength from. I know in life, sometimes, it feels like the odds are stacked against you, but God is for you. I overheard a conversation between my mom and a friend the other day. Mom was telling this young lady that after college she applied for a job, in which she didn't get. She was upset but remained strong and went for another opening at another job. The employer had pretty much assured her she would get the job, but she didn't. Something came up, and they decided to go with another candidate. Surprisingly, a job came up in the community where she was raised, she interviewed, and the job was hers. She got her dream job, with the exact position she had always wanted. My mother went on to tell the young lady that God was looking after her. He had the perfect blueprint laid out for her life. His plan was greater than hers. She trusted Him and He poured down the blessings. I know it's not always easy to trust in God's timing. We tend to want things RIGHT NOW. But the reward is so much greater when you are patient. Remember that! Have a fabulous week...
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’” Matthew 25:23 NIV “I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.” Psalm 119:7 NIV
